Brown Elephant
Brown Elephant
Title: Brown Elephant
Location: NAMIBIA
Namibia hosts one of two remaining populations of African desert elephants. They are desert-adapted African bush elephants rather than a distinct sub-species (they were once classified that way).
Elephants use mud and dust to protect their skin from the sun and parasites. This means that they often have unexpected coloring. This elephant was found close to a dried riverbed. A large deposit of iron ore was found in this region in 2012 and that has led to the brown/red color of the soil here.
