This young cheetah was part of a family group just hanging out near a termite mound. You will often find cheetahs on termite mounds or small hills as these give them a good view of the surrounding area.

Cheetahs will hunt smaller animals, such as impala, but can also become prey themselves. Cub mortality rates can be as high as 95%, largely down to predation by lions. This is one of the reasons why these beautiful animals are under threat of extinction.
