The face of wisdom

People often associate elephants with wisdom, so here is the face of wisdom! Whether or not you regard elephants as wise, I like to get close-up portraits of animals and I particularly liked this one.

One feature that might suggest that this elephant is from Etosha is the short tusks. Etosha is not abundant in food and minerals and this results in the elephants having smaller and shorter tusks than they might have if they lived in a more abundant environment.

As always, our connection with other creatures is through the eyes and I find a certain calm in the eyes of this elephant.
